Pen-trials and inscriptions, f 50v.
Owned by Frederick North, 5th Earl of Guilford (b. 1766, d. 1827), colonial governor and philhellene: inscription, f 1r; probably his sale, 8 December 1830, lot 453/5 (number written twice on f 1r; the catalogue describes Lot 453 as 'S. Joannis Chrysostomi Liturgia, Graecè, and four other Devotional Works in Greek, the covers of three are made of other Greek Manuscripts, one of them very ancient' (cf. the description of this manuscript in Phillipps' catalogue). According to the annotated copy of Guilford's sale catalogue held by the British Library, the five manuscripts in Lot 453 were purchased by Thomas Thorpe (b. 1791, d. 1851), bookseller, for £1 14s.
Owned by Sir Thomas Phillipps, baronet (b. 1792, d. 1872), collector of books and manuscripts: his MS 10586, described in his catalogue (p. 172) as 'Akoloutheis Octombriou Meneos, bd. in a fragment of old Greek MSS. on Vell. 4to.ch.s.xiv. (Guilford)'. Possibly acquired by Phillipps from Thorpe, and certainly in his collection by 1837, when his catalogue was published.
Deposited as Loan MS 36/25 with the British Museum in 1949 by A. G. Fenwick and the Trustees of the Fenwick Settlement.
