Material: Parchment.
Foliation: ff 207. Three unfoliated modern paper flyleaves at the beginning and three at the end.
Dimensions: 200 x 70 mm.
Ruling: 280 x 190 mm, written in two columns, 25 lines per column.
Binding: Half black, 18th century.
Decoration: 1 full-page miniature of Christ and the four Evangelists in colours on a gold ground (f 1v). 5 headpieces in colours and gold (ff 2r, 32r, 82r, 147r, 200v). Large initials in gold, or in gold and colours. Simple endpieces in gold. Chrysography. Accents in red.

Provenance:
Possibly produced at Constantinople: Chalkoprateia in Constantinople is mentioned in an inscription: 'ἐν δὲ τοῖς Χαλκοπρατίοις ἀναγινώσκεται εὐαγγέλιον ἐκ τοῦ κατὰ Λουκᾶν' (f 201r).
A prayer on f140r was possibly added by a later owner: '[....] / τη συμβίου αὐτοῦ, καὶ τῶν τέκνον αυτοῦ / +ἔτι δεόμεθα ὑπὲρ τοῦ δούλου (τοῦ Θεοῦ) Ιῶ καὶ Μιχαελ /καὶ Μαρίας καὶ Σοφίας. ++'

Bought by the British Museum on 5 February 1872 from Sotheby's, using the Farnborough Fund (£3,000 bequeathed in 1838 by Charles Long, Baron Farnborough (b. 1761, d. 1838), a cousin of Francis Henry Egerton, 8th Earl of Bridgewater (b. 1756, d. 1829), founder of the collection.
