Ninon Hesse was a lifelong friend of Paul Neumann (b. 1888, d. 1948), and his sisters Helene (Lena) (b. 1890, d. 1979), and Mizzi (b. 1895, d. 1981). Mizzi married Ninon's cousin Walter Unger. All the items were personal gifts from Hermann or Ninon Hesse to Paul or Lena Neumann.
