Material: Paper.
Foliation: ff ix (i-vii, unfoliated blank page, viii) + 137 + i (foliated as ix) + v.
Dimensions: 205 x 140 mm.
Ruling: irregular, because of the illustrations throughout the text.
Binding: modern binding of brown leather.
Decoration: 373 illustrations in ink and colour, including, on f 1r, a representation of the Trinity with the author kneeling below. The illustrations on ff 12r-14v are by a different artist.

Belonged to St Catherine's Monastery on Mount Sinai: note on f 137v, threatening curses on anyone who removes the book from the mountain.
On f viii recto is a note in cypher (dated 20 June 1646) attacking the steward of the Sinaitic Μετόχιον at Cairo, whose conduct had involved the monastery in a heavy fine. Decipherments of this note and a key to the cypher (by J. P. Gilson) and a corrected decipherment and tentative translation (by F. H. Marshall) are bound in at the beginning, ff iii recto-vii recto.
Owned by Sir Thomas Brooke, Bart., of Armitage Bridge, Huddersfield: his bookplate of arms, f i recto.
Owned by the Rev. W. Ingham Brooke, Barford Rectory, Warwick, 1908: his ownership inscription, f ii verso.
Sold at Sotheby's, 20 Dec. 1921 (lot 321) and again on 13 Nov. 1922 (lot 270), when it was bought by the British Museum.
