A manuscript Manchu-Latin dictionary compiled by French missionaries in the eighteenth century, but not dated. Partly based on earlier Manchu-Chinese dictionaries, the Qing wen hui shu (淸文彙書) of 1751 and the Qing wen bu hui (青文補彙) of 1789. Alongside the Manchu words (in Manchu vertical script) are the pronunciations of the Manchu, definitions and comments in Latin.
Inscribed 'Presented by M. Poirot June 13. 1799' and bearing a Royal Society stamp. At the front is inserted a 1-page letter in French, and a 1-page list of Manchu letters and syllables.
Title on the spine of the bound volume: 'Manchu-Tatar and Latin Dictionary'.
