- Title:
- Neḥ kraṃṅ braḥ lịṅ mās khsè 1
- Scope & Content:
-
Vol. 1 of a copy of the seventeenth-century romantic love poem of separation Bralịṅ mās öy (Proleung meas oey, transl. 'Oh my darling', literally 'Oh my golden soul') attributed to the Cambodian king Braḥ Rājasambhār (Preah Reachsamphear) (alias Srī Dhammorājā II / Srey Thommoreachea II).
A handwritten note in English in black ink on European paper reads: 'Nay Krong Trahlung Mǎs. Cambodian. A historical essay to show the nature of our state after death in all its variations. The book is written with great spirit in endeavouring to make people believe the most silly stories. There is very little moral drawn from the facts related. The work is a lyric poem compiled many centuries ago and a fair telling of the Budha creed a future existence.'
A second type-written note by Henry Ginsburg reads: 'A love poem entitled Ney krang(?) Prelung Mi:es (in kākkate and brahmagiti metres. Volume 1 only.'
