In Malay in Jawi script. Sejarah Melayu or Sulalat al-salāṭīn, a copy of the ‘long’ version, ending with the defeat of Johor by Jambi.
Called here Hikayat Melayu, copied in Melaka by Muhammad Tajuddin Tambi Hitam bin Zainal Abidin, Penghulu Dagang of Melaka in Kampung Telengkira, on Monday 19 Zulhijah 1289 (Monday 17 February 1873).
Contents: ff.1v-200v, Sejarah Melayu, ends with the war between Johor and Jambi; ff.201v-203v, a list of pasal, starting with Ceritera Raja Iskandar anak Raja Dara and ending with Ceritera Sultan Mahmud Syah yang semayam di Kampar. Does not include the episode of the reading of the Hikayat Muhammad Hanafiah the night before the Portuguese attack on Melaka.

- 204 ff. Dimensions: 240 x 189 mm. 18 lines per page, with pencil-ruled lines. Blue English laid paper, watermarked ‘1867’, ‘F P A’ ‘LEDGER PAPER’. in two different hands: ff.1v-148v, black ink with purple rubrics, in a hasty hand, with paragraphing, no catchwords; ff.149r-203v, black ink with red rubrics, in a neater Straits scribal hand, catchwords on every folio. Fine full brown leather binding with flap, with blind tooled and stamped motifs; floral printed endpapers in blue, pink, yellow and black. A very clean copy with little evidence of use.

- Name on f. 204r: E. E. Isemonger. [Edwin Empson Isemonger served in the Straits Settlements from 1867, and retired as Resident Councillor of Melaka in 1891. He married the sister of Sir William Maxwell. Four of his Malay manuscripts, all copied in Melaka in 1872-3, were acquired by SOAS Library from Miss Isemonger (MSS 21039-21042).]
