- Purchasedfrom Carl Bock Esq and accessioned into the British Museum collections on 22 Nov 1882. Carl Alfred Bock (1849-1932) was a natural scientist and traveller. Son of a merchant, brought up and educated in Oslo. After bird- and data collecting expeditions in Indonesia, he went on an expedition to Thailand (then Siam) and what is now northern Thailand in 1881-2, including visits to the towns of Bangkok and Ayutthaya in central Thailand, Raheng (Tak) in the west, and in the north, Lamphun, Lakhon (Lampang), Chiangmai, Fang, Kiang Hai (Chiang Rai), and Kiang Tsen (Chiang Saen).
