Surau-surau Malalo Collection
Surau-surau Malalo Collection - Scope & Content:
- The collection is mostly written on European paper which ages approximately ranged from the middle 1700s to early 1900s. Their condition are now pretty much critical and endanger: some are now seriously broken down, the writings are washed out, pages are ripped apart and rotten. The contents are mostly about Islamic texts: tafsir (Interpretation of Qur'an), Qur'an, tauhid (unity of Allah), fiqh (Islmic rules), tasawuf (Sufism), Arabic grammar, and the Islamic narrative stories.

- User Conditions:
- Custodial History:
- It seems that the manuscripts in Malalo are the heritage from the spiritual Guru (Sheikh) Syattariyyah (an order of mysticism in Islam) in Malalo who lived circa 1850 AD. People in Malalo and surrounding areas know him as Sheikh Limo Puluah or Uwai (grandfather) Limo Puluah. After the decrease of surau as the center of excellence, the manuscripts were spread everywhere, and to everyone, to his family, or to his students, and almost useless. In this case, manuscripts that are found in Malalo, are in different family or person who we called as contributors. The initials of the distributors, in this list, we put after letter M (Malalo) as follows: Nurman Katik Sampono (MN); Angku Labai Sumpur (MALS); Angku Imam (MAI); Daril Pandeka (MDP); Agus Pakih Batuah (MAPB); Buya Haji Yahya (MBHY); Omri Khatib (MOK); Nazaruddin Pakih Rajo (MNPR)
