Scope & Content:

In Malay in Jawi script. Contains two unidentified Islamic works, one written within the text frames and another in the margins. The hand appears to be quite modern, and certain modern writing conventions are found in this manuscript such as the use of brackets and numerals for sections of the text.

Contents: explanation of certain Arabic phrases in Malay, starting with la ilaha illa Allah (f.1v).

The text in the margins is dated 24 Muharam 1290 (24 March 1873) in Mekkah (NB but this may apply to the original of which this MS is a copy).

Colophon [f.11r]: telah selesailah daripada [metashihkan] ini hantaran yang kecil dengan membetul yang w.f.t h.th.a.f.h Imam Ahmad dua puluh empat hari bulan Muharam al-muharam dan sanat 1[29]0 daripada hijrah nabi ... di dalam negeri Mekkah, ‘completed [editing] this small offering and correcting … Imam Ahmad, 24th of the month of Muharam and the year 1290 of the hijrah of the prophet … in Mekkah’.
