Portrait of the poet Kakinomoto no Hitomaro (c.650-700) accompanied by two of his waka poems. One of the Thirty-Six Immortals of Poetry from the Heisei-ban Satake-bon Sanjūrokkasen 平成版佐竹本三十六歌仙 inspired by the 13th century manuscript formerly in the possession of the Satake family.
Poem 1: Honobono to Akashi no ura no asagiri ni shima ga kureyuku fune o shizoomou (Kokinshū IX 409).
Poem 2: Momijiba no chirinuru aki o tamazusa no tsukahi o mireba koyohi omohoyu (Hitomaru-shū 49).
Calligraphy by Nishimoto Shisei 西本支星, Yūzenzome painting on silk by Kawada Machiko 河田満智子.
