A manual on the principles of navigational theory by Sulaymān ibn Aḥmad ibn Sulaymān al-Mahrī (سليمان بن أحمد بن سليمان المهري, fl. 16th century), here called al-Muḥammadī (المحمدي), an Indian Ocean navigator from the city of al-Shiḥr (الشحر), Yemen. The treatise is arranged in seven parts (أبواب).
This copy was completed on 15 Jumādá II 1153/7 September 1740 at Ṣuḥār (صحار, in the Sultanate of Oman) by ‘Abd Allāh ibn Aḥmad al-Ma‘qilī al-Sa‘dī (عبد الله بن أحمد المعقلي السعدي; see colophon, f. 5r, lines 16-18, transcribed below).
