- Scope & Content:
- Description: Manuscripts not dated but probably from mid 19th century. They are part of a larger collection owned by BDK Saldin, including a printed book missing opening pages-no date visible but likely from around the same period. Manuscripts are compendiums of Islamic texts, including stories of the prophets, charms and theological materials. Collection also includes a dictionary with a short grammar of the Malay language written for foreigners, possibly missionaries. Extent and format of original material: 2 manuscripts. Physical characteristics of original material: The manuscripts are in relatively good condition, bound and written in ink that has not faded. Both are written by several different hands.

- The digital images in this collection were created as part of the EAP450 Manuscripts of the Sri Lankan Malays project. The original material is owned by B.D.K Saldin, who Inherited it from his father; previously owned by grandfather Baba Deen Singalaksana (died 1907).
