- Description: This collection includes nine manuscripts and books, all written in the Arabic (jawi) script and according to the owner brought from Singapore by her grandfather. Some are tales of the prophets, and other Islamic stories. One of the manuscripts was digitised for this pilot project. Extent and format of original material: Nine books and manuscripts. Physical characteristics of original material: Several of the books are in very poor shape, with pages falling out and/or missing. Some have been partially reconstructed using additional paper or tape.

- The digital images in this collection were created as part of the EAP450 Manuscripts of the Sri Lankan Malays project. The original material is owned by Gnei Fathin Preena Basiron Abbas. All materials were brought from Singapore by the owner's grandfather. This book was used by the owner’s mother to teach her children to read gundul. They were asked to read one page a night and give their lesson to the mother. Once they mastered the language through this book, they were given the longer hikayats to read.
