- Title:
- Abū'l-Faẓl ibn Mubārak, Akbarnāmah
- Scope & Content:
- Volume 1 of Abū'l-Faẓl's account of the reign of Akbar describing his Timurid ancestry and the history of his grandfather Babur (1483-1530) and father Humayun (1508-56). Since a dated note on f.134v cannot be read with any certainty, a date of 1602-3 is posited on stylistic grounds. The second volume and part of the third (covering the years up to 1579) of the same manuscript are in the Chester Beatty Library, Dublin (Indian MS 3). This manuscript includes 39 of the original 50 paintings by attributed artists of the royal studio. The margins of the opening have been decorated and illustrated in Jahangir's reign
