This volume contains a collection of poetic works in a Turkic dialect and Persian arranged concurrently. The main text in Uyghur script comprises a number of moral tracts, poems, and religious works, while the Persian sections are poetry by Kamāl Ismāᶜīl. Text from a different work is found on ff 179-180, including maxims in Arabic along with explanations in Persian.
The contents include the following Turkic works:
- Sirāj al-qulūb (ff 2r-129v)
- Masalā kitābī (ff 130r-135v)
- Miscellany (ff 136v-159r)
- Muḥabbat nāmah (ff 159v-178r)
and the following Persian works:
- Dīvān of Kamāl-i Khujand written in the margins (ff 2r-155v)
- Dīvān of Amīrī (ff 159v-182v)
The language of the texts in Uyghur script are difficult to categorize according to contemporary linguistic divisions. Although bearing clear affinities to Qarluq and Qipchaq lects (including the use of the -gan past, the initial b- for the verb bolu/bolmaq, and considerable presence of nasal ng, as well as lexical indicators), there are also clear indications of Oghuz influence.
The volume is heavily illuminated throughout with geometric, floral and other designs, mostly in the central panel. and illustrated. Clauson argues that the illustrations, which do not appear to have any relation to the content of the text, were likely completed at an earlier date, possibly by a different hand than that of the scribe. They do not bear strong affinities to Timurid art found in other Chagatai or Turkic works.
The manuscript was copied in Yazd by Manṣūr Bakhshī in calligraphic Uighur script in Rajab and Shaʻban 835 (November- December 1431) for a patron Mīr Jalāl al-Dīn. The Persian works were added in the margins at a later date.

- Custodial History:

R. S. Greenshield acquired the work through a sale in benefit of the British Red Cross. It was given to the BRC by a Sir Douglas Seton Steuart, who claimed that the item had been in the possession of his family for some time.
The fly-leaf of the work contains the inscription "A. Seton ESQ", likely in a late 18th-century hand.
The work is reputed to have been acquired in India, where it had previously been in the possession of a Muhammad Mustaqil of Narnaul.
