Syair Jaran Tamasa and Hikayat Budak Miskin, in Malay in Jawi script.
A: ff. 1r-67r: Syair Jaran Tamasa. Called in the first line 'Kakawin Jaran Tamasa'. According to the colophon on f. 67r, this text was copied by Muhammad Bakhar at the request of Mister Raffles from a syair which had originally been copied by Ismail on 29 Muharam 1219 (10 May 1804) (Pada sanat 1219 tahun2 ba pada sembilan likur hari bulan Muharam pada hari Isnin pada waktu tengah hari akan surat ini Ismail empunya syair ini disuruh Tuan Raffles salin senda Muhammad Bakhar (b.a.kh.r) menyurat sair ini ditolong Allah taala sudahlah dengan sempurnanya di dalam ini jikalau ada salah pinta tuan2 maaf akan hamba tuan orang tuha lagi mata pun cedera tamat.) In fact, this is a copy of Syair Jaran Tamasa, MSS Malay B 9, copied by Ismail in 1804; the present copy probably dates from 1806 like the second item below.
B: ff. 68v-131v. Hikayat Budak Miskin or Hikayat Parang Puting. According to the colophon on f. 131v, this was copied on 8 Rabiulakhir 1221 (25 June 1806) by Muhammad Kasim for Raffles (Pada sanat 1221 tahun2 dal akhir pada dualapan hari bulan Rabiulakhir pada hari Arba’ pada pukul sebelas pada ketika waktu itu maka sudah disalin hikayat ini wakatibuhu senda Muhammad Kasim tamat. Inilah hikayat Parang Puting Mister Raffles empunya tamat. )
