- Scope & Content:
-
Texts on prayer (sembahyang) and marriage (nikah), in Malay in Jawi script.
ff.2v-8r: Catechism on prayer (sembahyang), in question and answer form. (f.8v is a copy of the beginning of this text in a much poorer hand.)
ff.9r-14r: Instructions on prayers for the dead (Ini niat sembahyangkan mayat laki-laki)
ff.14r-27v: Text on marriage (inilah kitab pada menyatakan hukum nikah); incomplete.
Annotated on f.1r: Sumarcandee [i.e. al-Samarqandi], with a statement in Malay naming the owner as Tuan Alperes of Kampung Salemba in Batavia, and the scribe as Duljabar, who had come to Batavia from Cirebon; he apologises for his handwriting 'like hens' scratchings'. This appears to be the colophon referred to in Ricklefs & Voorhoeve (1977: 121) as belonging to IO Islamic 2906 (old number Arab. 2906; Loth 381), from which MSS Malay C 7 was extracted.
