ff.1v-28v: al-Adwa' al-bahjah fi ibraz daqa'iq al-munfarijah, by Yahya Zayn al-Din Zakariya ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Ansari, on ethics, a commentary (sharh) on al-Qasidah al-munfarijah by Yusuf ibn Muhammad ibn Yusuf al-Tawzari, known as Ibn al-Nahw (born 1042 H). In Arabic. 19 lines per page.
ff.29r-30r: al-Tahdhir 'an al-wuqu' fi al-halakah wa-al-baliyah, by 'Ali ibn Hisham al-Din, dated at end 1238 (1822/23 AD). This text emphasises the importance of syariat as the basis for any study of Sufism, to avoid going astray. In Arabic.
ff.31r, 32v-34r: various notes in Arabic.
f.35r: notes on war against the Dutch, in Malay:
a) Following the Padri war, in 1840 Dutch troops arrived in Barus to push back the Acehnese. This note describes how two religious leaders and their congregations set off to fight the Dutch in Barus in 1840, and were killed in Barus in1843.
b) Recording the outbreak of Dutch war against Aceh on 8 Muharam 1289 (18 March 1872); the retreat from the capital in 1290 (1873/74); and the renewed outbreak of fighting on 1 Zulkaidah 1298 (25 September 1881) and again in 1299 (1881/82).

f.69r: 2 short texts. Cerita Abi Abi Hanifah, anonymous text on ethics. This one-page text contains a synopsis of Shaykh al-‘Attar’s account in the book Tadhkirat al-awliya about the piety of Abi Abi Hanifah, who took great pains to avoid terjerumus perbuatan syubhat sedikitpun, and who was justly rewarded. In Malay and Arabic.
ff.69v-72v: sharh al-Maliyat al-kubra, anonymous text on ethics. A commentary on the al-Maliyat al-kubra, which contains advice and prayers to help a Muslim to mencapai martabat yang tinggi before God. According to the writer, the original text was so concise that it needed further commentary in order to help understand it. In Arabic. 29 lines per page.

ff.74v-93v: Kitab al-rahbiyah fi ilm al-faraid, by Abu ‘Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Rahbi (d. 1183). Colophon on f.93v, hadha al-kitab fi al-ahad, written by Lebai Isa al-Faqri[?]. Poetical work on fiqh. In Arabic. Widely spaced, with 5 lines per page, with interlinear commentary.
