Scope & Content:

Loose mounted prints with handwritten captions, contained in a cardboard folder labelled: 'Photo 44. Donation No.995. L 93/53, Mrs Parker Leighton'. Some of the mounts require treatment for foxing. Prints 1–3 are scenes of rural life in Bengal by Saché, taken at the same location as the similar views by Samuel Bourne. This and other instances of Saché duplicating Bourne subjects suggests that Saché was heavily influenced by and perhaps even plagiarised his fellow photographer. Prints 4–9 are topographical views in Ceylon.
