Whole plate, lightly hand-tinted daguerreotype portrait mounted in a dark red full-leather case (external dimensions 228 x 178 mm), with red-velvet lining. A contemporary hand-written note in a neat hand affixed to inner case reads:
Daguerreotype portrait of His Highness the Reigning Prince of the House of Ponwar - 'Rajah of Dhar'. Presented by His Highness to Captain Jenkins Indian Navy to be presented with a drawing of the Naval Review to the Honourable Court of Directors of the Honourable East India Company - Sanctioned by the authorities.'
