Title:

Scope & Content:

Dark green quarter-leather bound album measuring 385x310mm, with prints mounted one to a page. The album contains record photographs of furniture from the India Office which was displayed at an exhibition of 17th- and 18th-century English furniture and figured silks held at the Bethnal Green Branch Museum of the Victoria & Albert Museum in 1896. Mounted at the front of the album is the catalogue of the exhibition by J.H. Pollen and a letter from Cecil Smith of the V&A to William Foster, dated 15 October 1918, enclosing the photographs and pointing out that in some instances pieces from other collections are included with the India Office furniture. The catalogue contains a detailed descriptive listing of the pieces, and catalogue references to each piece are noted in the individual print listing.
