Scope & Content:

Collection of loose photographs, the majority mounted, with both contemporary and modern captions. The photographs cover a broad range of subjects and dates possibly linked by the career of Lieut Henry Charles Baskerville Tanner, RHA. Between 1861-2 he and William Robert Houghton of the Bombay NI were commissioned to take photographs of the people of Sind and the examples in this collection are from that project although it is not possible to attribute prints to either photographer. The other photographs in the collection include portraits of Horse Artillery officers, topographical views in Sind and the Himalayas and a reproduction of a drawing by Tanner.
