Scope & Content:

Collection of loose, lightly albumenised prints, two copies of most images. These prints from negatives made by Biggs and Pigou during their secondment to photographic duties by the Bombay Government in 1855-56. The majority of these images are duplicated either in Photo 1000 (India Office series) and/or the published work by Meadows Taylor and James Fergusson, 'Architecture in Dharwar and Mysore' (John Murray, London, 1866).

The collection includes views of Karnataka temple architecture at Balagamve, Dambal, Hangal, Bankapur, Narsapur, Lakshmeshwar, Vijayanagar, Sirhatti, Annigeri, Lakkundi and Pattadakal.
