Three cased portraits as follows:
246 (1) Hand-tinted stereoscopic daguerreotype of Mrs Clara Nicholson (1795-1874), mother of Brigadier-General John Nicholson (see item 2 below), in leather case with built-in viewing binoculars. Size of each image 68 x 58 mm. Overall size of case 96 x 192 mm. With royal warrant and photographer's name, 'Mr Claudet, 107 Regent Street', stamped in gold on front. 1850s.
246 (2) Daguerreotype portrait of John Nicholson, Bengal Army, in maroon leather case. Size of image 90 x 65 mm. Overall size of case 150 x 125 mm. With royal warrant and photographer's name, 'Mr Kilburn, 234 Regent Street', stamped in gold on front. 1852-5.
246 (3) Hand-coloured portrait of Charles Johnson Nicholson, in brown leather case, with paper label pasted to front cover reading 'Charles Nicholson who lost an arm at Delhi 1857'. Size of image 115 x 90 mm. Overall size of case 150 x 128 mm. Photographic process not identified: although mounted in a daguerreotype case, the image is so heavily overpainted as to make identification difficult. With royal warrant and photographer's name, 'Mr Kilburn, 222 Regent Street', stamped in gold on back cover. c.1860.
