Collection of 70 loose hand-coloured salted paper prints from calotype negatives, mounted on card measuring 348 x 470 mm, with contemporary hand-written captions at bottom left. The caption to print 26 in this series appears to indicate that Fiebig visited Ceylon (Sri Lanka) in 1852. This photograph is captioned 'English Church (1852), Colombo,' and since this date does not appear to have any specific relevance to the church itself, it must be assumed that it refers to the date of his visit to the island. This accords with his documented appearance in Madras in the same year (see Photo 248). The series consists of topographical and architectural views, primarily at Colombo, Kandy and Galle. There are also a few views in the Nuwara Eliya district and several for which the precise location is unspecified.
