Scope & Content:

Collection of photographic portraits of military and private secretaries to Governors-General and Viceroys from the early 19th century up to 1947. Some of the earlier portraits are photographic copies of paintings. Prints 1-37 are prints on paper; prints 38-79 are photographs on a porcelain base (a few on opaque glass rather than porcelain). A note with the collection states that 'prior to June 1948 these were in Viceregal Lodge, Simla and the Viceroy's House, New Delhi'.
