Collection consisting of boxes of lantern slides, stereoscopic glass slides (with viewer) and miscellaneous copy negatives. A note with the collection states that they were made by Francis Walden Gordon (b. 1895), Indian Forest Service (Burma) 1921–30, although many are inscribed 'Stereogram Shan Tayok' (Shan Tayok (roughly Chinese Shan) presumably refers to the name of a studio, possibly in Mandalay, with its large Chinese community). Whether this indicates the photographer, or merely the manufacturer of the glass slides, is unclear. Eighteen of the photographs are copyrighted to Seabury Edwardes (Seabury Cyril Donaldson Edwardes (d.1968), Burma Excise Service). A handlist of subjects has been prepared for the largest part of the collection (part (iii) below). The collection can be broken down into the following components:
(i) 58 lantern slides of Burmese subjects, unlisted.
(ii) 4 boxes of glass copy negatives (poor quality, very high contrast) from the lantern slides above.
(iii) 484 stereoscopic glass slides of Burmese subjects, arranged in boxes by subject, with handlist. The handlist records 43 boxes, of which all are present except box 29.
