Kalpasūtra + Kālakācārya-kathānaka by Devacandrasūri in Prakrit. A canonical and a narrative text from the Jain Śvetāmbara tradition.
This is the ms. used by Jacobi for his edition, translation and glossary of the Kālaka-story in Das Kālakācārya-Kathānakam ZDMG 34, 1880, pp. 258-278. At that time, it was the only known manuscript of the legend (p. 247: `Im Folgenden theile ich den Text einer Prākṛt-Bearbeitung dieser Legende nach der einzigen bisher bekannten Handschrift, nebst Übersetzung und Glossar, mit'). It forms an appendix to Jacobi's ms. `A' of the Kalpasūtra, described on p. 28 of the Kalpasūtra-edition: `An excellent MS. in my collection. It is written with silver on 113 leaves, most of which are painted alternatively black and red. Each page contains six lines. There are many pictures in the text and arabesques on the margin. The date, Vikrama 1484 (1427 CE) is given in the somewhat lengthy colophon'. He refers to this description and does not describe the ms. again in his article on the Kālakācārya. There he only writes: `Das Ms., welches sich jetzt in der India Office Library befindet, bietet den einfachen Text ohne viele gröbere Versehen, deren Verbesserung in den meisten Fällen leicht, ja selbstverständlich war. ... Die Schreibweise des Ms. ist überall vermerkt. ... da also im Ms. die Verse meist nicht gekennzeichnet sind, könnte mir wohl eine oder andere Strophe entgangen sein' (pp. 257-258).

Paper poṭhi bound in volume. Original foliation: 1-154. 29 x 9 cm.; 23 x 5 cm. 6 lines. Twofold ms. with three margins of 2 cm., two on the sides, and one as a separation between the two parts of the ms. Good condition. `It is written with silver on 113 leaves, most of which are painted alternatively black and red. ... There are many pictures in the text, and arabesques on the margin. (MSS. of this kind are not unfrequent with the Jainas' (Jacobi, see below). The leaves are indeed lavishly decorated. Their background are either black or pink. Fol. 2 is written in golden letters with a cream-coloured background. Borders are also sometimes richly decorated. The same is true with the middle margin which separates the leaf into two parts.
