'The story of the night attack at Horikawa'. An illustrated Kōwakamai (recitative dance) of the Hōganmono ('Magistrate' i.e. Yoshitsune)category recounting an episode from the life of the tragic hero Minamoto no Yoshitsune 源義経, younger brother of Shōgun Minamoto no Yoritomo 源頼朝.
Content: Suspicious of his brother's loyalty Yoritomo dispatched Tosabō Shōson 土佐坊正尊 to assassinate him. On the night of 17th day of the 10th month of 1185 Tosabō and his forces mounted an attack on Yoshitsune's residence at Hirokawa in Kyoto but Yoshitsune and a handful of followers valiantly held out until help arrived.
The manuscript is undated but was probably written during the early Edo Period (c.1640-1680)
