Green half-leather bound album (spine-piece missing and covers loose with some tears in cloth), stamped 'M.J.S.S.' in gold on front and measuring 418x310mm. Prints are mounted on the page with hand-written captions beneath. The first page of the album is inscribed: 'Our Indian Trip, starting from London on the 1st Oct. 1887 and returning to London on the 13th January 1888'. Many of the photographs, however, were taken a good deal earlier (particularly those by Samuel Bourne, for instance, which date from the mid-1860s). The albums contains views of Gibraltar, the Suez Canal, Aden, Bombay, Elephanta, Poona, Hyderabad, Calcutta, Benares and Lucknow.
