Scope & Content:: Collection of loose nitrate negatives (no prints), captioned on the original glassine wrappers (now discarded). The photographs show scenes in Bihar and Orissa taken by Vincent Ellis Davies ICS, Magistrate and Collector, in the course of his professional duties between 1929 and 1935. The collection includes general topographical and architectural views and scenes, views of district officers' bungalows, the effects of flooding in Bihar in 1933 and the Bihar earthquake of 1934, and copper and gold mining scenes. While the quality of the photographs is very variable and several of the negatives are unsharp, the collection contains a number of interesting and technically adequate views.
