Scope & Content:

Collection of loose mounted prints, in good condition, the majority with typescript captions. The prints by Bourne & Shepherd were produced at the same time, although the photographs cover a period of 70 years and cover a range of subjects including, most prominently, views of various industries such as tea, indigo, opium, gold and cotton; modes of transport including trains, motor cars and the push-push of Pondicherry; sports including women's golf; views of St Paul's Cathedral at Calcutta and the Residency at Abu; and portraits of Viceroys, including the Imperial Legislative Council of 1912 with Hardinge and a young Jinnah.
