Scope & Content:

Black and blue half-leather album, 310x415mm, containing mounted prints with both letterpress and handwritten captions. The title is stamped in gold on a label pasted to the front cover, inside is a dedication which reads: 'To Mr E. Rose. With L. Hira Lal's best regards'. On the front free endpaper is a letterpress description of the bridge and its final cost: 'Ganges Bridge at Garhmuktesar. 11 spans of 200 feet clear. Construction commenced February 1899. Bridge completed April 1901. Weight of one span 234 tons. Cost...Total 18,70,000'. Photographs include a group portrait of the project engineers and views at various stages of the bridge's construction.
