Title:

Miscellaneous views and ethnographical portraits in Burma.

Scope & Content:

Collection of loose prints, the majority mounted on card, with handwritten captions either on the mount or print verso. Several of the prints are copies of original photographs. The collection belonged to Mr A.G. McCrae who worked for the Irrawaddy Flotilla Company in the 1930s, although the photographs are earlier and include views of the Dalla Dockyard, ethnographic photographs, the Mingun Pagoda, wedding of a dockyard foreman, Rangoon street scenes and buildings, a white elephant apparantly being suckled by a woman, the 'hairy family' of Mandalay, the ruined Portuguese chapel at Syriam, Yenangyat, Inle Lake leg rowers, Mandalay Palace, a weaver and a view of a so-called crucifixion.
