Title:

Album of Indian views.

Scope & Content:

Brown full leather bound album, decorated in blind and gold leaf, measuring 370x450mm, with prints laid down on the recto of each folio. Label of the London Stereoscopic Company pasted to inside of front board. Condition of prints varies from good to poor. Some of the prints have hand-written captions beneath the image, although many of these make incorrect identifications. Captions enclosed in square brackets are taken from the Bourne & Shepherd catalogue entry corresponding to the negative number either visible on the print itself or noted in pencil on the album page. The album contains a selection of Bourne & Shepherd views (the majority Bourne's own work, taken in the mid-1860s) and shows scenes in Kashmir, Shimla, Darjiling, Mussoorie, Lucknow, Agra, Delhi, Calcutta, Udagamandalam, Thanjavur, etc.
