Postcards of the Delhi Durbar. Photographer(s): Unknown
- Scope & Content:
-
Collection of 29 loose postcard views of the Delhi Durbar (original prints). Prints 1-22, 24-28 all appear to be the work of a single photographer and have captions written in the negative. Print 23 is unrelated to the main series and appears to show a coronation parade for Edward VII. Print 29 is a postcard of the Delhi Durbar published by J. Beagles (London), from a photograph by Central News. This last postcard has a message signed by a private soldier named A. Whitcher, who is visible (marked by a cross), in the military parade. It is likely that the whole collection was originally compiled by him.
