Collection of 30 loose albumen prints, captioned and dated in a contemporary hand on the reverse, documenting railway construction in Ceylon in the early to mid-1890s. The views show work in progress on the Matara and Galle lines (following the coast along the south-west corner of the island), the Bandarawela and Haputale lines in the tea district south-east of Nuwera Eliya, and the Kurunegala line, north-west of Kandy. The photographer is unidentified, although the collection is possibly the work of the studio of W. L. H. Skeen and Co.
