Title:

Morgan Collection: Portraits of the Right Reverend George Alfred Lefroy (1854-1919), Bishop of Lahore and Calcutta.

Scope & Content:

Collection of 3 carte-de-visite and 10 cabinet portraits of G.A. Lefroy, taken in London, Dublin and various Indian locations. George Alfred (1854-1919) joined the Cambridge Mission in Delhi in 1879 and became head of the United SPG and Cambridge Mission in Delhi in 1891. He served as Bishop of Lahore from 1899-1912 and as Bishop of Calcutta from 1912 until his death in 1919. See; H.H. Montgomery, 'Life and Letters of George Alfred Lefroy' (London, 1920).
