Title:: Photographic views of Sedan [and Bazeilles]. Photographer(s): Unknown
Scope & Content:: Red quarter leather and buckram volume (British Museum binding) measuring 210 x 175 mm and containing ten small and somewhat faded albumen prints mounted on card within tinted borders, with pencilled captions on the verso. The photographs show views of Sedan after its surrender to the German Army during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-71 (prints 1-5), and views at Dansferry (print 6) and Bazeilles (prints 7-10). Although in much smaller format, there is a striking similarity between some of the prints in this collection and photographs in Maps 12.e.9 and it is likely that both are the work of the same unidentified photographer. This supposition is strengthened by the fact that both bear the same acquisition date stamp.
