Scope & Content:: Quarter bound album, red buckram boards with crown stamped in gilt on front cover, measuring 175 x 150 mm and containing 57 albumen print views of locations in the Metz area associated with the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-71. The photographs are mounted on yellow tinted card, pre-printed on the reverse with the legend, ' Collection des vues stéréoscopiques et des cartes. Phot. v. C. H. Jacobi, Neuendorf b/ Coblenz.' Individual letterpress caption labels are also pasted onto the reverse of each mount. These supply the publisher's name as Heinrich Siebert of Saarbrücken, and the fact that these labels appear to be with the exception of one print, carefully positioned to conceal the photographer's name, perhaps implies that Jacobi was not the original photographer.
