Title:: Photographic views of Switzerland. Photographer(s): Wehrli
Scope & Content:: Grey cloth covered photograph album measuring 250 x 330 mm, with 22 topographical views, mainly of Switzerland, pasted down one to a page (recto only) on stiff guard-mounted card pages. The verso of the first page has an ink stamp reading 'V. Chekato Moscow' (in cyrillic script) in the bottom right corner. The prints are captioned (and a few signed) in labels printed through the negative along the bottom of the photograph. From similarity of style and format, prints 1-17 have been atrributed to Wehrli of Kilchberg, although only prints 3, 6 and 12 are so credited. Print 18 is signed 'Ph: Jullien' in the negative. Prints 19-20 were issued by the photographic publisher Photoglob and prints 21-22 are credited to the Neopolitan photographer Giorgio Sommer. The majority of the prints appear to date from around 1900, although prints 18 and 21-22 are probably earlier (c. 1880s).
