Small quarto, in original blue cloth binding, with decorative work stamped in blind, and title stamped in gilt within a design of flowers and birds on the upper board, measuring 230 x 167 mm; edges gilt; pp. 8, 152; with 20 small albumen print views of rural scenes and pastimes, mainly stereo halves or circular images, laid down at the head of selected poems in this anthology of verse. A note on the page preceding the first poem records that 'The accompanying photographs were taken by the late Mr. Grundy, of Sutton Coldfield, near Birmingham.'A pink paper slip, laid down on the front free endpaper, quotes enthusiastic reviews of Grundy's work by Sir David Brewster, Roger Fenton and Philip Delamotte, together with the information that 'The London Stereoscopic Company, of 54, Cheapside, London and 594, Broadway, New York, have purchased the choice collection of negatives of the late Mr. Grundy, prints from which illustrate the present volume. They have also secured about 200 additional negatives by the same eminent artist, all of which are adapted for the stereoscope.'
