Drei Monate in der libyschen Wüste. Von Gerhard Rohlfs. Mit Beiträgen von P. Ascherson, W. Jordan und K. Zittel. Photographer(s): Remelé
- Scope & Content:
-
Imprint: Cassell. Verlag von Theodor Fischer. 1875.
Quarter leather octavo, green cloth boards, with crown and rules stamped in gilt on upper board, measuring 240 x 170 mm; viii, [6], 340p., 16, XI plates, [1] fold. leaf (map): ill. This forms volume one of the three-volume work and comprises the narrative text relating to the expedition. Volumes two and three (in quarto) form the scientific results of the expedition and are not illustrated photographically. The prints in this volume are numbered 1-16, but two copies of print 10 are bound into this copy. Rohlfs' introduction to the work supplies few clues regarding the background of the photographer Ph. Remelé, beyond stating that he was recommended by Professor Vogel and that he was the author of a handbook on landscape photography.
