Half-leather and buckram portfolio containing introductory letterpress sheet of captions and notes, with plates 508-543 of the series of sepia coloured aquatint photogravures printed on individual leaves of heavy rag paper measuring 560 x 460 mm, with tissue interleaving between each sheet. Each plate has the caption printed on the left beneath the image, with photographer's credit in the form 'From copyright photograph [date] by E. S. Curtis' in the centre and printer's credit, 'Photogravure Suffolk Eng. Co. Cambridge, Mass.' on the right.
