Half-leather volume, red buckram boards with coat of arms in gilt on upper board (British Museum binding), measuring 397 x 325 mm and containing the grey printed wrapper for this, the first, 'trial' instalment of the work and 6 albumen print views mounted on card within a pre-printed cartouche, with letterpress caption and photographer's and publisher's credit beneath each image. The back cover of the wrapper states that the whole work would be issued in approximately 5 instalments containing a total of 30 photographs of cities on the River Vistula (Wista). It is unclear whether any further issues appeared.
