Folio, originally bound in black embossed cloth, with title ‘Album de Jerusalem’ in gilt on front cover, measuring 483 x 396 mm; with a tinted lithographic title page, and 19 albumen print views mounted on card, one to a page (on recto). The card mounts have letterpress captions in French beneath each image, with photographers’ and publisher’s credit as follows: ‘Robertson & Beato, phot.’ on left, ‘Constantinople, Köhler & Weiss Libraires Editeurs,’ on right. Apart from the captioning of the prints, there is no accompanying letterpress. The volume is now in a modern red buckram binding, with the original cloth covers laid down on the endpapers. Several of the prints are captioned and signed in the negative, and a few are also numbered. Where captioned, the prints are also dated ‘1857.’ The precise date of this publication has not been established.
