Folio, Blue buckram volume (modern binding) measuring 481 x 330 mm, with printed titlepage (with mounted print), sheet with letterpress list of captions, and 60 albumen prints mounted one to a page (recto only), with lithographed captions beneath each image. Pasted into the back of the volume is a pamphlet listing books published by the Ordnance Survey and a sheet describing the contents of this publication. The complete work was originally available at a price of £22 and was divided into three parts, available individually as follows: Part I. 'Descriptive account and illustrations, 'the origin, progress and results of the Survey, with twenty pages of illustrations. In one volume Imperial Folio, half bound, price £4,0,0.' Part II. Maps. Portfolio of maps relating to the survey, £5. Part III. Photographs (in three volumes). Volume I. 'Contains 60 selected photographs of scenery, etc., along the northern route from Suez, via Serabit and el Khadim, to Mount Sinai, including an extensive series of views taken on and around Mount Sinai itself - £5 5s 0d.' Photographs, volume II. 'contains 60 selected photographs of the scenery, etc., of Mount Serbál and the surrounding country, and of Wady Mukatteb, and mining district of Magharah.- £5 5s 0d.' Photographs, volume III. 'Contains 33 photographs of inscriptions in Wadys Mukatteb, Ajeleh, and Aleyat, and also of the Egyptian inscriptions at Magharah, and of the Egyptian ruins at Serabit el Khadim, with views of the localities. - £2 10s 0d' (For vols. The photographs could also be purchased individually, those from volumes 1 and 2 costing 1s unmounted and 1s 6d mounted, those from volume 3 (which are generally of a smaller size), 9d umounted and 1s mounted. Not all the photographs taken during the survey were selected for publication, and a series of 111 prints not included in the original report can be found at Maps 29.d.28/4-5.
