Octavo volume, bound in original red cloth with title stamped in gilt on upper board, measuring 218 x 147 mm, pp. [8], 73, with 18 lithographic illustrations and 34 albumen prints mounted one to a page with printed captions beneath. The photographs and lithographs illustrate the correct methods for loading pack animals (mules, bullocks, camels and elephants) with various articles of military kit and equipment, each photograph referring to a specific paragraph in the letterpress.
