Octavo volume, in modern green buckram binding, measuring 267 x 207 mm, and containing 90 stereoscopic doubles, guard-mounted on card three to a page (recto only), with letterpress caption labels pasted beneath each image. These labels also containing pages references to the relevant text in the accompanying narrative, bound separately. The photographs were originally issued unbound, as a label pasted beneath the preface of the text volume makes clear:'The Frontispiece may be seen stereoscopically by looking at it through the 'Book Stereoscope,' which folds into a case like a map, and may be ordered of any bookseller, price 3s. 6d. The Stereographs, issued separately in a box with lock and key, price £5. 5s., are mounted on cards, and may be viewed stereoscopically in any kind of Stereoscope.'For a more detailed note on this work, see introduction to the text volume.
